Early Years
EARLY YEARS SECTION
Our four Early Years classes cater for the youngest members of our community. From the minimum age of three and a half, they provide the foundation needed for effective further learning, and allow every opportunity for your child to grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The spacious classrooms open to their own play area with age appropriate play equipment.
Daily activities and subjects such as art, science, nature, families and cultures are specially designed to increase attention span, sharpen listening skills and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Although your child will receive an early introduction to academic learning through familiarity with and use of numbers, letters and writing skills, emphasis is placed on “pre” skills. Children are introduced to phonics through the delightful ‘Letterland’ characters, and a variety of reading schemes. We use games and language activities which enable children to quickly recognise and read words.
Your child will benefit from specialist attention in music, computers, swimming and P.E. The school library offers an extensive range of books for children of this age, which may be borrowed on a regular basis.
