At the Secondary School level (Grades 8 - 12) Simba International School works in accordance with the IGCSE and A Level curricula offered by Cambridge International Examinations which has awarded us Fellowshop Centre Status, a recognition offered to relatively few schools worldwide. Students begin the IGCSE curriculum in Grade 10, when they are allowed to opt for subjects in which they believe they are most adept. English, Mathematics, French, Biology and IT, however, are mandatory from Grades 10 - 12. The optional subjects are Accounting, Art, Business Studies, Chemistry, Design and Technology, Economics, Geography, History and Physics, Our IGCSE results are generally always above the international average, a trend that reflects the school's culture for academic excellence. At the A Level, we offer the same subjects taught at the IGCSE and students generally opt for between 3 - 5 subjects for their AS and A Level course. Apart from the pursuit of academic inquiry and excellence, students are encouraged to develop their personality through the pursuit of cultural activities, team sport, community service and adventure expeditions. Enterprising students are often encouraged to integrate all of the above activities in the pursuit of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Youth Award. The school is also an active member of the ISAZ (Independents School's Association of Zambia) and secondary students participate in all the sports events that are held under the auspices of ISAZ. |
